Music Ministries @ Camp UMC
“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into His presence with singing!” Psalm 100:1-2
The music ministry at Camp United Methodist Church is an exciting place for you to share your musical talents to glorify God and minister to the congregation. Music is the universal language and putting scripture with music is an extremely creative way of praising God. People from different backgrounds, with varying degrees of musical training and skills, come together to praise God through music and through community. Music is a vital part of worship at Camp UMC, where musicians of all ages join to sing praise to God, grow in their faith, and give witness to their Christian experience through hymns and spiritual songs. Whether you are a singer, an instrumentalist, handbell ringer, or soloist, THERE IS A PLACE FOR YOU in the music ministry at Camp United Methodist Church in Shallotte!

Congregation Choir
A singing faith is a shared faith. Each week the most important choir of all—the gathered people of God in the congregation– join their voices to worship with psalms, hymns, praise songs and spiritual songs. We hope to prepare our children, youth and adults to participate in our Hymns and songs for a Lifetime program. The true reward is the seed of God’s word being planted in the hearts and minds of our congregation through His word and music.
Chancel Choir

This choir of over 30 singers leads the music with our New Life Band for our blended service each Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. Also, the Chancel Choir leads in special services throughout the year. In addition to learning challenging music across the sacred music literature, the Chancel Choir provides an opportunity to share our musical gifts to the glory of God, to be part of a close-knit group within the church and to grow in faith and musicality. The Chancel Choir is directed by Wes and Betsy Ward and meets from 5:55 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Each October, a group from our Chancel Choir has the opportunity to participate in a weekend retreat at Lake Junaluska. The choristers gather at the lake on Friday afternoon, learn new anthems, attend worship services and enjoy fellowship with other choir members. The retreat ends at lunch on Sunday, after an exciting worship service.
New Life Band

This band is a great way to get involved with contemporary worship. This spirit-filled group plays at the 10 a.m. blended service each Sunday. Most of our songs center around instruments such as voice, drums, guitars and keyboards. We also provide training for those that want to be involved on the tech side of things. This band is coordinated by Jill Greene and Ray McKinnon.
Kids Singers (GradesK-5)
This choir provides the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of music, singing, fellowship and faith all at the same time! Through songs and games, these young choristers will not only participate in worship through music, they will also learn teamwork and be brought closer to God and others. (The Kids Singers are a part of the Wednesday night Camp Kids group.) These children are directed by Betsy Ward and meet at 5:30 p.m. each Wednesday.
Bell Choir

An intermediate to advanced group of adult ringers, these ringers rehearse weekly at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and participate in worship and special programs throughout the church year. Camp UMC has a four-octave set of Malmark handbells and a four-octave set of Malmark choir chimes. All ringers are welcomed! This group is directed by Wes Ward.
