Welcome to Camp United Methodist Church!
Message From Pastor Clay Parker
In 1739, Methodism’s founder, John Wesley, famously wrote this in his collection of Hymns and Poems: “Solitary religion is not to be found there. “Holy Solitaries” is a phrase no more consistent with the gospel than Holy Adulterers. The gospel of Christ knows of no religion, but social, no holiness but social holiness. Faith working by love, is the length and breadth and depth and height of Christian perfection.” Lay aside the 18th century language for a moment and you will see that Father Wesley’s words are just as relevant for us today. And that is because “Social Holiness” is a neat, little theological term for the word community. “Solitary religion” is most definitely not what you will find when you worship at Camp United Methodist Church. What you will find is a loving and welcoming group of disciples who are eager to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the community of Shallotte and beyond. We worship in a blended style with a nod to the sacred hymns and liturgies so many of us love, while embracing the beauty of contemporary music and new worship styles that so many of us are drawn. It is a beautiful and welcoming worship experience! As we worship as a community, it is my prayer that the legacy left by everyone who has darkened the doors of Camp United Methodist Church will continue to live on as we do the holy work of being a community of disciples who “welcome all, love all, and serve all.” So, friends welcome for the first time or for the thousandth time to Camp United Methodist Church! Invite a friend to become a part of this loving community.
When You Arrive
There are two parking lots available next to the church. Please park in one of the convenient Visitor parking spots near the entrance of either lot. Additional parking is available across the street, but be careful of the Main Street traffic. We hope you will visit the Welcome Desk in the narthex of the church sanctuary building. A greeter can guide you to the nursery and Sunday School classes, direct you to a worship service, or provide more information about our church.
