Here at Camp UMC we are part of the Harbor District in the North Carolina Conference.
The NC Conference Council on Youth Ministry mission statement:
“To walk with youth in their journey to know Christ by creating an environment in which youth can experience Christian communion, to hear the gospel, to know God’s love and to respond in faith by loving and serving others…for in all of this we are making disciples of Jesus Christ.”
Camp UMC Youth Mission Statement:
To encourage one another in their relationship with God, to provide opportunities in the areas of spiritual growth, social interaction, Christian service and Bible study. To accept youth where are and to challenge them to God’s call to service in their church and community.
UMYF (United Methodist Youth Fellowship) is the large-group gathering for youth at Camp UMC. Outside of Sunday school and worship, it is the primary location for Christian education each week for youth.
UMYF meets every Wednesday from 6:00-7:00 pm, unless otherwise noted on the church calendar or in the newsletter. The youth begin with dinner and fellowship time, followed by a program. There are also opportunities for mission and service as well. Meals are provided on regular UMYF nights. Parents of youth and children are encouraged to sign up to serve a meal on a rotational basis. UMYF programming focuses on four areas of youth ministries: faith development, worship, fellowship, and mission/service.
At various times throughout the year, youth have the opportunity to take trips designed to encourage Christian fellowship and growing in faith. Some of these trips involve just the youth from CAMP UMYF, while others are open to all North Carolina Conference youth (visit the conference youth event for more information).
If you would like to know more about UMYF, please contact Tamy Munns at 910-274-2506, or email [email protected] Wednesday nights are exciting times for youth at CAMP – we hope to see you there!
“May the Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; may the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN! ”
CAMP KIDS Children’s Ministry
At Camp UMC, we want your kids to fall head-over-heels in love with Jesus! It is our heart’s desire for kids to discover and embrace a lifelong, joyous relationship with Jesus Christ. Walt and Mary Ann Sellars lead this ministry on Wednesday evenings. We have a safe environment in which your children can have fun while learning to know Christ, to love Him, and to serve Him. Your child may not want to leave!
Camp Kids meets in the upstairs education wing on Wednesday from 5:30-6:30p.m. We would love for children kindergarten through 5th grade to join us for Bible story time, music, games, crafts … and fun! The curriculum we use is Hands on Bible Curriculum by Group.
